Since a young age I wanted to be a psychologist. My life did not go in that direction. However, I was inspired to revisit this dream at a much later age and discovered that becoming a social worker could fulfill this. I was inspired by a natural desire to view people and their behavior on a deeper level in order to understand what’s underneath and break though barriers to living the most meaningful lives possible based on their individual circumstances.
My therapeutic approach is casual and welcoming. Sessions are typically conversational allowing for comfortable rapport and flexible thinking. This enables clients to feel safe in sharing openly, and expand their ability to envision a life worth living.
I would describe myself as a free spirit, who loves animals, especially dogs. Laughter is a must and standup comedian is among some of the other passions I have wanted to pursue. Music and travel are also an integral part of my life.
Getting to truly know my clients, not just their struggles, but their interests and their strengths. This allows for creative interventions utilizing their existing qualities so the process of change can be more seamlessly incorporated into their lives.
When I see that clients are reporting greater happiness and satisfaction with their lives.
I prioritize my own mental health and well being by practicing much of what I impart to clients. I continuously remind myself that I am unique and therefore try to avoid comparing myself to other’s standards, especially in reference to unrealistic cultural and societal standards. This allows me to set boundaries and know what my needs truly are.
I want my client to remember and believe that change is absolutely possible! Once a person has hope their receptors are open and a new journey can begin.
