COVID-19 Related Resources for Managing Stress

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has created sudden changes and uncertainty for all of us. Our routines have been disrupted in ways that none of us could have imagined even a few short weeks ago. It’s important to reflect on the changes to routines, habits, and life in general, that have come up for each of us. While this period of time has created anxiety and stress, it also provides an opportunity to find new and innovative ways to engage in self-care.

ModernTherapy is committed to supporting your mental health whether that be through our counselors or through various community supports. We’ve compiled a list of resources with various self-care and support topics ranging from anxiety resources to mindfulness techniques. As we navigate through this challenging time, we encourage you to reach out for support and test out some of these resources. Let us know what you think!

Stress & Anxiety Resources:

  1. Virus Anxiety - Resources and strategies for managing anxiety during the ongoing pandemic

  2. Crisis Text Line - 24/7 text support via trained, crisis counselors

  3. NAMI - provides resources, referrals, and peer support and advocacy for those experiencing mental illness

  4. “Unlocking Us” - a podcast by Brene Brown

  5. “The One Inside” - a podcast dedicated to the current crisis and how community members can support one another

  6. Talkspace Coronavirus Resource Hub - free resources on the website devoted to discussions of anxiety related to COVID-19

Self-Care Resources: 

  1. Down Dog - a free yoga app (until May 1st) that offers guided meditations and other quick exercises to help manage stress 

  2. Audible - 30 day free trial for audio books

  3. Coursera - free online classes on a variety of topics

  4. Yale University Online Course - Yale’s class, “Happiness” is being offered online, for free, and is focused on the science of well-being

Mindfulness Resources: 

  1. Dharma Talks - brief, guided meditation exercises

  2. Tara Brach Meditation - Guided meditation and lectures on mindfulness.

  3. Headspace - Guided meditation,  exercises, and blogs focused on mindfulness and self-care

  4. Longwalks - Journaling app with daily prompts you can share with others
