Therapy is meant to support your needs and desires. It will be whatever you want it to be based on your efforts and determination. Ultimately, clients should not seek therapy in hopes of someone providing them an answer/solution, but rather they should seek therapy to obtain the skills and mindset needed to be able to find their own answer/solution for any given situation.

I do not believe you can be empathetic without challenging yourself as well as your clients. However, I do believe the act of challenging clients and ourselves to grow and make progress is an empathetic act in and of itself. To understand and be able to share the feelings of what someone is struggling with includes being able to recognize the need for change and make adjustments. Any form of change is rarely an easy straightforward progress and, through empathy, I recognize the struggles my clients face and why they seek to improve thus giving me the drive to challenge them in bettering themselves.
My hobbies and interests are eclectic by nature. Whether it is seeing a broadway show, going to a shooting range or just binge watching television, I feel most enjoyment when it is with good company. Additionally, I am always interested in exploring new things.
When clients come to me, they are guaranteed to receive my honest feedback no matter if it’s praise or constructive criticism. Additionally, they are guaranteed to receive my unshakable patience to ensure therapy is adjusted to their pace and capabilities. I challenge all my clients to be the best versions of themselves and will assist in exploring every possible option to make that possible.
I define success in therapy when both I and my clients believe they no longer need me in their lives. My primary goal will always be to give my clients the necessary tools they need to be their own therapist for when struggles arise and to believe in their own capabilities and strengths.
The little pleasures in life do more wonders than we realize. Everyone needs moments to themselves. The three universal self-care tips for anyone and everyone to me would be proper diet, proper exercise and proper sleep.
Change is possible but you do not have to tackle such a challenge alone. The first step is acknowledging that it is possible. The rest will follow with hard work and preservation.
