I would describe my therapy style as warm, safe, inviting, and structured and flexible at the same time. While being goal-oriented is important, I understand that sometimes client’s need to vent about a stressful day or recent events that are on their minds. This is your session to use how you’d like to.
CBT, ACT, Exposure, Faith-Based
I didn’t know I wanted to become a therapist until my first job as a social worker. I worked closely with the therapists on my team and saw what a difference they made. I truly felt that it was my calling.
A fun fact about myself is that I love to go on backpacking trips! My favorite one was a 25-mile backpacking trip from one side of the Grand Canyon to the other side. I found a hidden waterfall and helped a group of French hikers out of the Canyon – it was one heck of an adventure.
My approach in helping clients set and achieve their goals is by getting to know each client’s unique story and needs to create a plan that works best for them. I utilize proven methods and customize them to fit their situation. I also make sure to check in regularly and adjust as needed to keep things on track.
The most rewarding part of being a therapist is that I get to be a part of so many healing journeys. I find it an honor that someone would let me into their lives in such a vulnerable way. I’m able to watch them have all these wins while I get to cheer them on.
Prioritizing my mental health and well-being is very important for me. I have a strong faith, which is what helps me the most. Some other things that I find helpful are going on an adventure, trying new restaurants, having endless conversations with friends and family over the phone and being out in nature.
I would hope they remember that I genuinely care about them and will always try my hardest to support them. My top priority is making sure they feel seen, heard and valued. If I'm not the best fit, I'm committed to helping them find the right next steps for their journey.
