Self Esteem

Did you know that one in five Americans live with mental illness? Since 1949, May has been observed as Mental Health Awareness Month!

Do you get nervous around crowds of people? Do you become nervous before giving a public presentation? These are common examples of social anxiety. Social anxiety is defined as anxiety anticipating a social situation or anxiety during or after that situation. People who have social anxiety simply don’t want to stand out. They want to be as inconspicuous as possible. Thankfully, there are some steps that you can take to become less socially anxious!

We are living in an extraordinary time, where at the touch of a button, we have endless amounts of information at our disposal. But for all the praise we give social media, it is not without it’s flaws.

Nobody is born with a tremendous amount of self-confidence. If someone seems to have an enormous amount of it, chances are that that person has worked hard for years to build it. Since we live in a world where we are constantly comparing ourselves others through social media, it’s easy to question our adequacy and feel inferior. Actively working towards building our self-confidence is an important skill to learn for anyone who struggles with poor self esteem. Increasing confidence in yourself will not only make you feel better mentally, but can also have a large impact on your career, relationships, and personal life.

I want to challenge you to try setting a boundary and seeing how it feels! It may be very uncomfortable at first, but it may also result in some positive changes in your life!

Do you feel like no matter what you try, your teenager is unmotivated? This is very common among adolescents, which is frequently viewed as, “My teen is just being lazy.”. While that may be what appears on the surface, all kids want to do well. Most teens would love to get straight A’s, please their parents, impress their peers, and excel at any interests they may have.

Having healthy self-esteem means feeling good about ourselves, our abilities and our thoughts.
