Gabriela Ortiz, LPC

Gabriela is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University. Over her career, Gabriela has accumulated a diverse range of skills that are suited for working with children to seniors.

Gabriela has spent the bulk of her counseling career working in the community agency outpatient setting for a large clinic based in Northern New Jersey. During her time there she has worked with a large array of diagnoses ranging from life transitions and anxiety counseling to clients with more severe and pervasive symptoms. While she has the ability to work with many different types of clients successfully, Gabriela has the most experience working with clients who experience issues managing stress, anxiety, phobias, adjusting to life transitions, Adhd, parenting challenges, domestic violence, bipolar disorder, and depression.

Gabriela is recognized for her collaborative, solution-focused approach which enables her clients, including couples, to feel supported and empowered as they navigate the challenges they face. She has had specialized training in suicide prevention, trauma-informed care/nurtured heart approach, engaging and building relationships with adolescents, social media’s impact on mental health, art therapy, and creative interventions for working with challenging children. As a therapist, she caters her clinical approach to the needs of her clients, but heavily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused techniques while incorporating multicultural competence into her treatments. Gabriela is also fluent in Spanish and has years of experience working with Spanish-speaking clients.
