The Anxiety and Depression Initiative held their third annual gala this past Friday night. Modern Therapy is proud to support this organization who seeks to promote the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle while living with anxiety, depression and related disorders, to provide general information about mental health resources and to overall help lessen the stigmas associated with anxiety, depression and related disorders.
Their mission principles include:
-
Introduce an active lifestyle to individuals living with anxiety, depression and related disorders to aid in their treatment, and long-term quality of life.
-
Raise awareness of the prevalence of anxiety, depression and related disorders with the goal of removing the stigma associated with these conditions.
-
Provide general information about mental health resources for those individuals living with anxiety, depression and related disorders.
-
Support research on the impacts and best practices of exercise on anxiety, depression and related disorders.
-
Aid mental health practitioners in identifying and disseminating best practices for introducing physical activity into treatment plans.
At this event we heard from speakers Dr. Brandon Alderman and Bryan Bradshaw. Dr. Alderman is a professor at Rutgers University and Director of the Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory, whose research seeks to better understand how exercise and physical activity may improve emotional reactivity and cognitive function among at-risk patient populations.
Mr. Bradshaw is an author and motivational speaker who utilizes a disciplined health and wellness routine that he credits with keeping his energy high and his mind clear.
Thank you ADI for a fun and inspiring night!
