4 Ways To Improve Body Image

Many people struggle with body image, especially with societal pressures and constantly seeing perfectly photoshopped celebrity bodies online.  However, it is important to remember that there is no standard of beauty and you are beautiful just the way you are.  Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Recognize your positive qualities: It is important to be comfortable in your own skin.  It is important to embrace your body and to love it as it is.  Many people have a tough time accepting the body that they are in because society has taught them that they should always strive to look a certain way. 

  2. Be around positive and supportive people: The people that we surround ourselves with are an important factor.  Being surrounded by love, positivity, and happiness is more beneficial than engaging in relationships that are unhealthy and toxic.  It is important to have a support system of good people who appreciate you as a person and make you feel loved. 

  3. Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident: One of the best ways to feel confident by dressing the way you want.  Wear what makes you feel attractive and comfortable.  There is no one right way to dress, this can give you the opportunity to experiment with different styles and colors. 

  4. Stay active: Exercise doesn’t only benefit your physical health, it also has a profound effect on your mental health.  Research has shown that exercise can improve mood and relieve stress.  There are other ways to be active besides exercising, you can take a few minutes each day to meditate, you can practice yoga, or engage in any physical activity that you consider fun and enjoyable.
