4 Ways to Do the Things We Don't Want to Do

Often times we experience the feeling of wanting to do so many things, but getting started can be a challenge. As winter descends upon us, the cold days and dark nights can leave anyone struggling to get a move on accomplishing what they want versus spending a day on the couch with Netflix. So how do we push ourselves to do what we need? Try a few of these:

  1. Hyper-focus on the reason behind why you are doing the activity, oftentimes this can motivate you to keep going forward, whether it be the benefit of doing this financially, personally, or professionally.

  2. Try amping yourself up. Give yourself a little bit of a challenge by back-talking your reasons why you haven’t accomplished something. Riling yourself up can help push you to believe you can do anything you set your mind to.

  3. Aim for ego strokes. Gas yourself up to feel really good about all the things you are doing.

  4. Visualization. Before doing something you may be procrastinating on, visualize yourself doing whatever it is you have to do, with style and panache! Visualize yourself completing and succeeding in whatever the task may be. Visualize yourself relaxing once the task is done!

Knowing you’ve done what you have to do, proved this to yourself, and succeeded, leads you to pushing yourself further and feeling good.
